West Ham losing to Bristol City 0-1.

West Ham United only landed in the 3rd round of the FA Football Cup after losing to Bristol City 0-1 in a game in which the Hammers were down to 10 players.

The first game was tied 1-1, allowing Bristol City to return to play at home. While West Ham were missing many players, both injured and is on duty with the national team.

Just 3 minutes into the game. The locals were delighted with a 1-0 lead thanks to a mistake by Konstantinos Mavropanos who didn’t return the ball well. So Tommy Conway swooped in and reached for the ball before Luca Fabianski then shoots from a tight angle.

At the end of the first half, there was an opportunity for the home side. Joe Williams opened the ball for Anis Mehmety to shoot with his left hand in the penalty area, but Max O’Leary made a save. Then the first half ended with this score. 

Just 6 minutes into the second half, West Ham’s situation worsened when Said Benhrama received a red card after deliberately retaliating against Joe Williams. The referee had to have him leave the field.

West Ham fought hard and almost equalized in the 67th minute. Maxwell Cornet play the ball for Tomas Soucek to volley in the penalty area. But Max O’Leary was still excellent in defending. 

During the rest of the period there were no more goals. The game end with Bristol City beating West Ham 1-0 and advancing to the 4th round to wait to meet the winner of the match. Between Forest and Blackpool must replay as well.
